Flat Danley
Early on in the planning process for Daniel's 30th birthday, I knew that not everyone we knew would be able to attend. I had seen an ad on some social media platform that suggested a life size cut out a person, but that was costly. I was trying to figure out a way that people could be a part of the party or celebration without having to physically be present. I remembered the Flat Stanley idea from elementary school but wanted to do something that was a little more upscale than a print out of Daniel. I found Fotoforms* online that actually calls a product Flat Stanley.
Deciding what photo to use was the next tough decision; there aren't a lot of photos that I had on hand of Daniel standing and fully pictured. I gathered the few that I had, but kept coming back to this image that was from a couple years prior where Daniel and John took tricked out big wheels through downtown Dallas parking garages in Superman & Batman onsies. There were fun memories tied to the onsie, so I felt it appropriate for the image to be sent around the country.
Because a lot of our friends still lived in Pennsylvania, I picked the order that he would get passed around based on those that would see each other. Andy & Lindsay made coffee and ate sushi with Flat Danley. Wanda set up a couple of meetings with friends to snag a couple additional people images like with Micaela downtown and Michelle at her place of work. Danley also helped Wanda with some home projects (not pictured) and drinking some of her wine. And then John and Lisa's little loved Flat Danley so much that there were some super cute images that we received of her hugging and taking him around like he was her favorite doll!
